Educational Sciences

 

The Department of Educational Sciences was established in 2010-2011 academic year. The main function of the department of educational sciences is to conduct teacher training courses on educational sciences of Education Faculty’s undergraduate programs, to prepare in-service teacher training courses for teachers working on primary and secondary schools and other educational institutions and to make researches on field of education. There are three departments in Educational Sciences: Educational Curriculum and Instruction, Psychological counseling and guidance, Educational administration and planning. There are no undergraduate programs on these fields.

Mission: Our department aim to train researchers, leaders and academicians who have adapted the culture of democracy, with professional sensitivity, can think critically and who are at peace with themsleves and the environment. And also we have a mission to organize scientific activities and to make original applied scientific researches on the subjects of education, instruction and teaching profession.

VISION

Our vision is  to be a department that trains the future’s qualified teachers, produces knowledge on the education, instruction and in areas related to the teaching profession and continuous self-improvement, brings solutions to problems related to education, instruction and teacher training and becomes an example with its well trained teachers and is honored to be its member and graduate.

 

PROGRAMS

a. CURRICULUM AND INSTRUCTION

The aim of the Department of Curriculum and Instruction is to train the field experts who ensure continuing the instructional activities more effectively and more efficiently through the development of educational programs in formal and non-formal educational institutions at all levels.

 

b.EDUCATIONAL ADMINISTRATION

Head : Prof. Dr. Said Taş

The aim of the Department of Educational administration and planning is to support their implications and theoretical knowledge, ensuring to thinking topics connecting with educational policy, to give an opportunity to develop education system to qualified learning and instruction and to support critical thinking while developing knowledge of educators on the topics of educational administration and supervision.

 

c. GUIDANCE AND PSYCHOLOGICAL COUNSELING  

Head : Assist. Prof. Dr. Ece Kara

The aim of the program is to educate professionals to meet the increasing demand for guidance and psychological counselor at educational and various Institutions such as schools, hospitals, rehabilitation centers, family counseling centers and so on. Some of the lessons to be taught in the department are:

Introduction to Psychology, Physiological Psychology, Social Anthropology, Developmental Psychology I, Literature Review and Report Writing, Developmental Psychology II, Special Education, Psychological Counseling and Guidance, Learning Psychology, Social Psychology, Techniques Outside of Testing, Family Counseling (Area Elective), Career Guidance and Counseling, Theories of Personalities, Techniques and Principles of Psychological Counseling, Interpersonal Problem Solving Skills (Cultural Elective), Adjustment Issues Through Life-Span, Career Guidance and Counseling Practice, Behavioral Disorder, Group Counseling, Theories of Counseling Psychology, Developing Curriculum in Guidance, Interpersonal Problem Solving Skills Practice (Cultural Elective), Industrial Counseling and Guidance (Area Elective), Individual Counseling Practice, Learning Disorder, Psychological Test, Community Services Practice, Career Counseling (Area Elective)Institution Experience, Ethical and legal Issues in Counseling, Field Research on Guidance and Counseling Psychology, Seminar on Guidance and Counseling Psychology

 

The students who complete the program will be given the title “Psychological Counselor”. This will allow graduates to work at state or private schools, also special education and judicial institutions and in the industrial fields. The wide scope of work and the increasing demand in educational institutions helps to make possible the job search for the graduates. As a result, the students who finish this program will not have difficulty in finding a job and they will be given an opportunity to work in a wide variety of institutions.
