When and how is course registration / registration renewal completed?
Students are responsible for all course registration procedures. Registration renewal must be completed within the period specified in the academic calendar. During this period, students who have not completed their program within the normal period of study must pay the applicable tuition or contribution fee and select the courses they are eligible to take that semester through the Student Information System.
I want to register for courses, but an outstanding balance appears in the system. What should I do?
If an outstanding tuition fee appears in the system, you must pay it before registering for courses. You can make the payment through Halkbank or Ziraat Bank ATMs or via internet banking by entering your student number. Otherwise, you will not be able to access the course registration screen or select your courses.
I am a daytime education student. Why am I being charged a tuition fee?
Tuition fees are not covered by the state for students who are simultaneously enrolled at another higher education institution, students who exceed the normal duration of study, and students enrolled through an undergraduate completion program. Such students are required to pay the applicable tuition fees themselves.
What should I do if I make a mistake during registration renewal?
Errors made during registration renewal may be corrected during the course add/drop period specified in the University's academic calendar. Students may drop elective courses that are not offered and register for courses that are offered.
What should I do to suspend my registration?
A student who is required to suspend their studies may request suspension of registration within the first two weeks of the academic term by documenting a justified and valid reason. Subject to the approval of the Faculty Executive Board, registration may be suspended for a maximum of two semesters at a time. Students whose registration is suspended cannot benefit from student rights during the suspension period.
Where can I access the course schedule and examination schedule?
Schedules are first announced on the Faculty website. Some necessary updates may be made during the first few days after publication; therefore, please follow our website during this period. Once the schedules are finalized, they are also entered into the Student Information System.

You may not have registered for the course, or you may be enrolled in another section of the course. You should report the situation to the Student Affairs Unit as soon as possible.
How can I be exempted from courses that I successfully completed at another higher education institution?
Students who successfully complete the preparatory class and begin their first year may apply for exemption within the first two weeks following the commencement of classes by submitting their transcript and course contents. Exemptions may be granted by decision of the Faculty Executive Board. The Faculty Executive Board also determines the semester into which the student will be placed by taking the exempted courses into consideration.
How are the School Experience and Teaching Practice courses conducted?
School Experience and Teaching Practice are practice-based courses conducted at schools affiliated with the Provincial Directorate of National Education.
I could not attend an examination and I have a valid excuse. What should I do?
There is no right to a make-up examination for examinations other than midterm examinations. Students who are unable to attend a midterm examination due to a valid excuse may be granted the right to take a make-up examination if they apply within one week following the date of the final examination and their excuse is accepted by the Faculty Executive Board. Students may not attend examinations held on the days for which they have an approved excuse. Examinations taken by students during an approved excuse period are considered invalid.
What are the contributions of the midterm, final and resit examination grades to the overall course grade?
The midterm examination contributes 40% to the overall course grade, while the final or resit examination contributes 60%. If a student takes the resit examination, the grade obtained in the resit examination replaces the final examination grade.
I did not take the midterm examination. Can I take the final or resit examination?
There is no restriction preventing students who did not take the midterm examination from taking the final or resit examination.
Is there a minimum grade requirement for the final and resit examinations?
Regardless of the midterm grade, a student who receives a grade below 35 in the final or resit examination automatically fails the course.
How is my letter grade determined after the final examination?
A relative grading system is used. Under the relative assessment method, a student's raw course grade is first calculated by considering the contributions of the midterm examination, other educational activities where applicable, and the final examination, as in the absolute assessment method. This score is regarded as a raw grade out of 100. The raw grades of all students are then converted into the letter-grade system or the 4.00 grading system adopted by the Senate, taking into consideration the overall achievement level of the class, grade distribution, class average and/or standard deviation.
Do I have to attend a course that I previously failed or that I am retaking to improve my grade?
Attendance is not compulsory for a course that you previously failed with an FF or FD grade or that you are retaking to improve your grade. It is sufficient to take the examinations. However, attendance is compulsory for a course that you failed with an NA grade.
Do I need to apply to take a resit examination?
Students who have received a letter grade of DD or higher and wish to take the resit examination must submit a request through the Student Information System. No request is required for courses with FF or FD grades.
I see grades such as -1 or -2 in my examination results. What do they mean?
A grade of -1 indicates failure to meet the attendance requirement and corresponds to an NA letter grade. A grade of -2 indicates that you did not take the examination. A student whose midterm grade is -1 cannot take the final or resit examinations.
How can I appeal an examination result?
Students may submit a written application to the Dean's Office within one week following the announcement of examination results to request a review for a clerical or calculation error. Upon the request of the relevant academic unit, the instructor re-examines the student's examination paper or grade sheet for such errors. The written opinions of the instructor and the Head of the relevant Department are evaluated by the relevant Executive Board, which then makes a decision. If a clerical or calculation error is identified in the examination papers or grade sheets, it is corrected after obtaining the opinions of the instructor and the Head of Department. The appeal must be considered and concluded by the relevant Executive Board within fifteen days at the latest, and the student is informed of the outcome.
What are the requirements for taking the single-course examination?
This is an additional examination opportunity granted to students whose cumulative GPA is at least 2.00 but who are unable to meet the graduation requirements solely because they have received an FF or FD grade in one course. Students who receive a grade of 46 or above in this examination become eligible for graduation.
What are the requirements for taking courses from a higher semester, and what are the advantages or disadvantages?
To take courses from a higher semester, the student's GPA must be at least 2.50 and the student must have no failed courses. Taking courses from a higher semester may enable a student to graduate earlier. However, for evening education students, courses taken from higher semesters may create a risk of not being included in the top 10% ranking.
What happens if my GPA falls below 1.80?
A student whose GPA is below 1.80 may take courses totaling a maximum of 30 ECTS credits in a semester.
How can I transfer to your Faculty?
There are two types of lateral transfer: transfer based on GPA and transfer based on the Central Placement Score. The requirements for lateral transfer are announced on the University's website in July each year. Applications are submitted in August.
What are the evaluation criteria for a lateral transfer application based on the Central Placement Score?
Only the student's ÖSYM score from the year in which they were placed in their current program is considered in the evaluation of the application; no additional academic achievement requirements are applied. If the student's ÖSYM score from the year of initial enrollment is equal to or higher than the minimum admission score of the program to which they wish to transfer, a lateral transfer may be possible subject to the available quota.
Can a student who previously transferred based on the Central Placement Score (Additional Article 1) transfer again?
A lateral transfer based on the Central Placement Score can only be made once. Students who transfer under Additional Article 1 based on the Central Placement Score may subsequently return, during the applicable application periods, to the higher education institution in which they originally gained the right to enroll through the ÖSYS Central Placement process. A lateral transfer based on GPA may be made more than once.
I am studying in the preparatory class. Can I apply for a lateral transfer based on the Central Placement Score?
If the student's Central Placement Score from the year of enrollment is equal to or higher than the minimum admission score of the program to which they wish to transfer, the student may apply for a lateral transfer while studying in the preparatory class, any intermediate year, or the final year.
Is there a summer school? Which courses are offered?
Announcements regarding the courses to be offered during the University's summer school are published in the Student Information System (OBS) in June each year.
Can I take courses from another university during summer school?
If a course that a student wishes to take during the summer term is not offered by our Faculty, the student may take it from another department/program outside the University. However, the content, credit and contact-hour equivalence of the course to be taken from another department/program must be approved in advance by the Faculty Executive Board.
What is the maximum number of courses I can take during summer school?
A student registered for summer school may take courses totaling up to 20 ECTS credits.
A course I selected for summer school has been opened. Can I drop it during the add/drop period?
If there is no timetable conflict, a student cannot drop a summer school course during the add/drop period once the course has been opened.
